ANTAE
seu ANTES et ANTERIDES, nonnullis pro synonymis habentur, sed perperam. Amae, enim sunt παραςτάδες, coluinnae quadrae vel pilae, quae ad latera ostiorum utrinque ponuntur; nec enim quaelibet columma quadrata Anta dicta est, sed eae tantum, quae in lateribus ostiorum, ἀπὸ τȏυ ἀντῆσαι. Atque hae antepagmentis ligneis operiebantur, ornamenti gratiâ. Antes, ordines sunt seu ςτίχοι cuiuscumque rei anteriores et qui frontem spectant: unde et dicti: Ut Antes vinearum ςτίχοι ἀμπέλων Virg. l. 2. Georg. v. 417.
Iam canit extremos effetus vinitor Antes.
i. e. Laslus et effetus vinitor, in extremis Antibus; qui inprimis adhuc integer, utpote laborare tum incipiens, quum in extremis vineae ordinibus labore iam fractus sit; ut enim extremi sunt Antes in vineis, ita et primi ac medii. Sic Cato de re Milit. apud Servium: Equites quatuor agminibus, pedites duobus Antibus ducas, i. e. duobus ordinibus. Anterides tandem, sunt columnae vel lapides eminentiores, qui interponuntur ad sustinendam structuram, ἀπὸ τȏυ ἀντερείδειν, Vitruvio l. 6. c. 11.
